It's not too late
“It’s late September and I really should be back in school.” No, no Rod Stewart. It’s too soon to hunker down for the semester. Enjoy these days of autumn, where the air is crisp, the skies are blue, and for some the NFL season has just started. Though the days are in fact getting shorter, there is plenty of time left for landscaping too. Here are a few reasons to consider a Fall landscape project.
Avoid the Spring rush
It seems everyone thinks of landscaping in the Spring. And why not? Spring is the season for renewal and growth. It’s only natural that our focus turns from the cold of winter to a much long and awaited Springtime. We get anxious to experience the arrival. Consider this. What if your spring project was completed in the Fall? You'd be ready to get outside and enjoy a full season of outdoor living, while others are competing for your landscaper’s time and attention.
Less stress for you and your plants
Planting in the dormant season, gives your new plants a chance to acclimate to their surroundings before they have to contend with the heat and humidity of our summers. This time of year the soil is a nice warm temperature and usually has ample natural moisture. That means less stress for you to add supplemental water and your plants can begin to establish a good root system.
Reliable weather
That sounds like an oxymoron: Reliable weather. However, a heavy rain or even snow fall in the Spring months can postpone your plant installation as the soil is already heavily saturated from the winter. Autumn storms normally don’t leave the soil so wet, as to inhibit your project's completion. Everyone is happy when a project is done in a timely manner.
